The Associate Director, IIT Lead will act as a scientific expert and offer medical support to KOLs.  The role will assist in building the foundation and capabilities of the medical affairs organization and provide clinical/medical information to healthcare providers and serve as a scientific and clinical resource internally.  In addition, this position will be responsible for acting as the key point of contact for Kyverna’s growing IIT program providing logistical support and coordination with the internal Clinical Development and MSL teams.  The ideal candidate will contribute to our goals of navigating what’s next in synthetic biology, immunology and cell engineering while living our core values: bring intellectual rigor, elevate each other, and stay true to why.  

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop relationships with regional and national opinion leaders to support Kyverna products; establishes strong relationships with opinion leaders, clinical investigators and providers at academic and non-academic settings.
  • Support Clinical Development and Clinical Operations in the identification of clinical trial sites, participating in site initiation visits and engaging with KOLs and clinical staff to enhance clinical trial enrollment.
  • Support Kyverna’s IIT/collaborative research program including acting as logistical point of contact for ongoing IITs, coordinating investigator outreach by the MSL team to their specific KOLs with IITs, working closely with the Medical Director - IITs and Clinical Operations, to ensure program optimization.
  • Medical advocate for Kyverna by utilizing disease state knowledge, detailed understanding of investigational cellular therapy product(s) to engage healthcare providers.
  • Serve as a scientific and clinical resource across the organization.
  • Prioritize solutions to challenging scenarios and develop mitigation strategies to support the needs of the team.
  • Develop educational materials for Medical Affairs, including slides and information letters, related to data being generated within the IIT program.
  • Represent Kyverna at regional, national and international conferences.
  • Provide detailed, clear and regular communication to deliver complex medical/scientific information effectively to HCPs.
  • Collaborate with cross functional medical and marketing teams to facilitate the work for developing publications, abstracts, and posters for scientific congresses and peer reviewed journals.
  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and training for junior MSLs fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Work closely with internal departments such as regulatory affairs, marketing, and broader medical affairs to ensure alignment and execution of IIT strategies.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments in cell therapy, competitor activities and evolving regulatory environment to maintain and enhance expertise. 

Requirements

  • Advanced science degree required (PhD, PharmD, MD, RN, NP, PA or equivalent)
  • Must have prior cell therapy experience.
  • Prior experience in rheumatology, neurology or hematology preferred.
  • 5+ years as a MSL with cell therapy launch experience preferred.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience with Investigator Initiated and/or Collaborative research trials
  • Ability to deliver scientific and clinical presentations to a variety of audiences.
  • Can independently manage projects and work well with cross-functional team members to achieve corporate and department objectives.
  • Demonstrated positive, collaborative relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to proactively identify issues and have a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and make independent decisions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, as well as the proven track record of working effectively in diverse teams involving multi-functional disciplines
  • Proven ability to develop internal relationships in a highly matrixed environment, as well as external relationships with KOL’s and industry experts.
  • Must be able and have flexibility to travel all for medical congress coverage, exhibit booth staffing as well as support team with clinical site visits depending on business needs.
  • Ability to maintain current licensure and obtain appropriate certifications to allow access to customer site visits, conference attendance and international travel requirements, if required.
